FEATURED AUTHOR: JIM YACKEL, Writer of Christian Suspense Novels

Our featured author this month writes edgy Christian Fiction / Suspense Novels.
Meet JIM YACKEL.

You've just released your latest Wayfarers novel, SPIRIT.
Can you tell us more about the Wayfarers series?

The Wayfarers series is fiction, and yet the occurrences and events in the stories are as much warnings of what is and could happen in the world today and tomorrow. They highlight the technological advances and spiritual warfare taking place around us, and mirror Bible prophecy. Some of what occurs in these books are based on dreams and visions I've had, and then certain characters have them and live them out.

As an aside within that framework, personal relationships involving the characters are explored and revealed, which in my opinion gives the stories significant depth.

You've published quite a number of books. Which one is your favorite and why?

That is a difficult question! I would have to say that it's a tie between two Wayfarers books: 'Home' and 'Spirit.' In each of those, it's the relationships between characters, while the world is crashing down around them, that I find especially endearing.

Tell us what you love most about being a writer. What moves you to write?

I'd love to be a scriptwriter! I'm moved to write books that in my mind would translate to movies, a drama series, or documentaries. Plus, I write not so much for how many will read my work but "who" - and I have no idea who the "who" are. I feel like I am supposed to write... that it's a task I am intended to carry out and I love that.

Is there a book or author that inspired you to be a writer?

I was prompted to begin writing after reading the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, and further encouraged by a member of a band I was in. And yet, some might say that my work is an amalgam of LaHaye/Jenkins and Stephen King. Go figure!

When you're not writing, who is Jim Yackel, the man?

He is first and foremost a Christ follower. In that he's a watcher of world events that could point to Bible prophecy. He's also an avid fisherman who loves to fish the old Erie Canal that is featured in the Wayfarers series. He is a frustrated singer/songwriter and recording artist and was active in that field before becoming an author. He also loves radio and has been told he should be an announcer. He certainly has a face for radio!

We agree!
Are you releasing a new book anytime soon?

When and IF times and world conditions allow, there will be another Wayfarers book. We are living out the Wayfarers series in the non-fiction world. Again, I'm documenting and issuing warnings while hoping my work helps to lead all the real-life wayfarers home. So much is out of my hands.

What is your message to readers?

Simply that time is short and normal is over. We're fighting a battle that is larger than us, but there is glorious victory, hope, peace, and eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Jim!
